About Catholic Congress

The Catholic Congress (AKCC) is an organization of the laity under the Syro-Malabar Church and stands for the overall progress of the Syro-Malabar Catholic community and for the protection of civil and fundamental rights with respect to religious, social, cultural, educational, and economic aspects. Catholic Congress, previously known as 'Keraleeya Catholica Mahajanasabha', was formed in 1918. Mar Aloysius Pazheparambil was the first president. John Nidhiry was named the first president of the Almaya Forum in 1929. The organisation adopted the name, All Kerala Catholic Congress, in 1931.

The Catholic Congress existing at the parish, forane, diocesan, national, and global levels covers the whole spectrum of Catholic lay life, from their faith to social action to the professions in which they work.

The Patron of Catholic Congress is Mar Raphael Thattil, Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church while its Bishop Legate is Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil and Global Committee Director is Fr. Philip Kaviyil.

The Director of the Catholic Congress of Kanjirappally Diocese is Rev. Dr. Mathew Palakudy. Mr. K. K. Baby Kandathil serves as President, Mr. Joseph Pandarakalam acts as secretary, and Mr. Jojo Thekkumcherikunnel holds the position of treasurer. Mr. Jomy Kochuparampil is the global committee member.

Vision

The vision of Catholic Congress is to provide to the whole humanity love, mercy, solace and protection following the way shown by Lord Jesus.

Mission

The mission of Catholic Congress is to get all faithful who attained 18 years of age enrolled as members of Catholic Congress- the official organization for laity in the Syro-Malabar Church and to create a platform for bringing all members of the community spread over the world under one umbrella in order to be introduced and be helpful to one another.

Goal

Everyone should reach the glaring heights socially and economically and in financial security based on spirituality aiming betterment of the society.
