Liturgical music is an essential part of the worship of God, as it expresses the faith and devotion of the believers and enhances the beauty and solemnity of the liturgy. Liturgical music is not merely a decoration or an ornament, but a means of communication and participation in the mystery of God. Liturgical music is based on the sacred scriptures, the tradition of the Church, and the liturgical seasons and celebrations. Liturgical music aims to foster the unity of the community, to inspire prayer and contemplation, and to glorify God and sanctify the faithful.

The Department of Liturgical Music in the Eparchy was found by Mar Mathew Arackal in 2019. The main objective of this department is to foster group singing in the Churches.

Activities

The Department of Music offers various activities to enhance the musical skills and talents of the faithful. One of them is the choral singing training, which involves 140 participants from different parishes. They receive expert and scientific guidance twice a month and form the Eparchial Choir that leads the liturgical singing at the Eparchial events.

Another activity is the musical instruments training, which attracts students from many parishes who learn to play different instruments every week. They also take part in the Grade Examination conducted by ABRSM, Royal School of Music London. The Department also provides parish level musical training to help form the Church Choir in each parish.
